Ride Report – Saturday 13th October 2012

I went out yesterday with the intention of shooting a new mini movie and testing out some of my bike packing gear. I was hoping to head up to the Lickys and eat my dinner on the hill over looking Brum. Above is a still from the first and sadly only bit of video I shot all day. Almost exactly at the time you see in this picture it started raining and never really stopped for any length of time. It wasn’t like it was heavy or anything but I quickly lost interest in shooting a film. I really enjoy making them but standing around in the wet getting cold is not what I enjoy about it.

By the time I got to the point where it was do or die in terms of having my dinner on the hill it was still raining and I just didn’t fancy it any more. I made the decision that I could head home now and that it was still a good ride, or risk have a miserable couple of hours seeing it through no matter what. On the whole I enjoyed this outing even if I was carrying a bunch of gear that I really didn’t need and the weather turned a bit crap. It felt like it had been ages since I had been out for a real ride, and I’m hoping that this was the one I needed to get me back into regularly getting out there again.
