In the studio with Kaypa
Rewind about 12 months and Nedos and I were working on a drum and bass track. Between one of our sessions Nedos played it to Kaypa who started spitting a verse had just written. They decided to lay down this one verse just to see how it fit and we were all very happy with the results but some reason we put the tune down and never came back to it. Kaypa then went on to write a couple more verses use it in a hip hop track called No Excuses.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago and realising that Kaypa’s album was about to come out we thought that we would finish our version of this tune and we could give it away to help promote his new release. We invited Kaypa back to 2nd City to re-record the vocal over our drum and bass track. Above is a little video of a couple of the verses we recorded during the session. The audio was recorded from the camera mic, so isn’t the best, and is what we were monitoring in the control room, as opposed to anything mixed and finished.
